Distributed, Cryptographic commodities trading
The Bitcoin-based Counterparty protocol enables truly distributed accounting and trading. The SOYBEANS trading symbol is an experiment in using this emerging new technology in ways never before possible to connect people who eat food to farmers who grow it. This experiment is an attempt to prove that Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) can be accomplished on a world-wide scale in a global market, and provide more direct revenue to farmers, and real food at better prices to eaters.
If you have 1 SOYBEANS, you can trade it in for 1 pound of my food grade soybeans before the end of 2014. Depending on how it works, I may issue more and do the same thing for 2015.
If you want to do some market research, buy some Laura Soybeans from another farm in Iowa. The more people that go direct, the better it will be for you the eaters and us the farmers.
